Spring by the Pond
"Spring by the Pond"
This piece definitely has a special place in my heart. First of all, I love spring - all of the beautiful flowers blooming, the days getting longer, warm but not hot. A sense of new life and new possibilities.
The main photograph here is from the point of view sitting on a particular stone bench by the pond in Pioneer park in Walla Walla, WA - my home town. During the last year or so living in Walla Walla, I took to riding my bike there on my days off. It was always such a peaceful, serene place. I could just sit there and watch the wind sway the tree branches, the ducks paddling about, the squirrels scurrying, and sometimes a tortoise or two.
During our very first in-person visit (we met online), I brought my now husband to this special spot, and we sat on the stone bench together, watching the ducks and talking. During that final Spring in Walla Walla, as I was preparing for our wedding and getting ready to move, I tried to spend lots of time soaking in all of the beautiful spots back home. That is when I took these photos, and I still say Walla Walla in the spring is one of the most beautiful places to be.
